A total of 128,116 candidates qualified NEET PG 2025 out of 230,114. Conducted by NBEMS, the exam is key for PG medical admissions. The Supreme Court is set to hear related transparency pleas on September 19, 2025. Check details.

NEET PG 2025 result was declared on August 19, 2025, but the centralized counselling process for NEET PG has still not begun, leaving thousands of medical aspirants in uncertainty. The delay is due to petitions filed in the Supreme Court, questioning the transparency of the evaluation process. Petitioners have objected to NBEMS releasing only question IDs without the full question papers. The case is set for hearing on September 19, 2025.
The case is scheduled to be heard by a bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and K.V. Viswanathan. The petitions challenge NBEMS for releasing only the question IDs along with provisional answer key. Applicants argue that without access to the full question papers, they cannot properly verify if their answers were evaluated correctly. They have requested the Supreme Court to order NBEMS to make the complete question papers and answer keys available to ensure transparency.
The transparency issue in NEET PG 2025 has emerged as a major concern among medical aspirants. Unlike NEET UG, where both the question papers and answer keys are released publicly, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has not shared complete answer key or question paper for NEET PG. This lack of clarity has raised doubts about the fairness of the evaluation process.
Earlier this year, in May, the Supreme Court had also taken note of such concerns and directed NBEMS to conduct NEET PG exam in a single shift to ensure uniformity. During its hearings, the Court further stressed the need to curb practices like seat-blocking and called for greater transparency in postgraduate medical admissions.
Although NEET PG 2025 result was declared on August 19, 2025, the centralized All India Quota (AIQ) counselling has not yet commenced. This delay is due to an ongoing case in the Supreme Court, where petitions have raised concerns over the transparency of the exam process. As a result, nearly half of the postgraduate medical seats across the country remain unallocated. While states like Kerala, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu have begun their individual counselling processes, the national-level admission schedule remains on pause. The upcoming hearing on September 19, 2025, is expected to be a turning point not only for this year’s admissions but also for shaping future policies on fairness and transparency in postgraduate medical examinations.
