Section-Wise NMAT Important Topics 2025

The following important topics are based on previous year’s NMAT exam analysis:

Quantitative Skills

  • In the Quantitative Skills section of NMAT 2025, you will notice that the questions are getting slightly tougher each year, though this section is still easier compared to CAT.
  • Out of the 36 questions, about 12 to 15 come from Data Interpretation (DI), which can be both time-consuming and calculation-heavy. If you have a good understanding of Percentage, Ratio, and Averages, you will find the DI questions easier to solve.
  • Apart from DI, Geometry usually has 2 to 3 questions. You should focus more on Arithmetic than Algebra, as it carries higher weight. Topics like Permutation & Combination, Probability, and Modern Math are also very important for scoring well in this section.

Language Skills

  • Language Skills section of NMAT 2025 is quite different from VARC section of CAT exam. Most of the questions in this section come from Vocabulary, Sentence Correction, and Idioms & Phrases.
  • You can use the book Word Power Made Easy to strengthen your vocabulary and cover a large part of this section. Questions based on Analogies appear every year and are important for improving your verbal reasoning skills.
  • You should also focus on Reading Comprehension, as it usually includes more than one passage and can help you score well if you practice regularly.

Logical Reasoning

  • In the Logical Reasoning section of NMAT 2025, you will get around 15 to 18 questions from Critical Reasoning. You can expect Statement and Assumption-based questions, which test your analytical thinking.
  • Every year, you will also find set-based questions from Input-Output and Seating Arrangement, so regular practice is important. Topics like Clocks, Cubes, and Calendars are also part of this section. These topics are not included in CAT syllabus but can be useful for SNAP preparation
  • Additionally, questions on Blood Relations appear every year, so you should practice them well to improve accuracy and save time during NMAT 2025 exam.
