NEET PG 2025 Marking Scheme?

NBEMS has implemented a significant change in the scoring methodology for NEET PG 2024, adopting a normalization process previously employed by AIIMS Delhi. This method, characterized by its meticulous precision, will calculate percentile scores to seven decimal places. To address the challenges of a two-shift examination, the normalization process will ensure that the highest scorer in each shift achieves a perfect 100 percentile, regardless of the relative difficulty of their respective papers. This approach aims to create a level playing field for candidates across different shifts. You can expect this method to continue in the 2025-26 academic year too.

NEET PG 2025 Examination Qualifying Cut-off vs Admission Cut-off

The qualifying cutoff refers to the minimum score necessary to be considered for the merit list, while the "admission cutoff" is the minimum score required to secure a seat at a particular institution. For example, the prelims cut-off determines eligibility for the next stage, while the final cutoff for each institution varies and determines who receives an offer of admission. Admission decisions are influenced by several factors, including:

  • The total number of candidates who meet the qualifying criteria.
  • The available seats in each program are at different campuses.
  • The candidate's NEET PG Online Test Score.

Since admissions are strictly merit-based, institutes do not release fixed cutoff lists. This means the cutoff score can fluctuate from year to year depending on various factors.

NEET PG 2025 Examination Tie Breaker Process

In the event of a tie in NEET PG scores between two or more candidates, the following criteria will be applied to determine the final merit ranking:

  • Accuracy of Responses: Candidates who have answered more questions correctly will be ranked higher.
  • Minimization of Negative Responses: If a tie persists after considering the number of correct answers, candidates with fewer incorrect answers (negative markings) will be given preference.
  • Age Priority: In the case of an ongoing tie, the older candidate will be ranked higher.
  • MBBS Aggregate Marks: If the tie remains unresolved after considering the above factors, the candidate with a higher aggregate percentage in all MBBS professional examinations will be given priority in the NEET PG merit list.
