The National Testing Agency (NTA) is currently accepting the JEE Main 2026 applications for Session 1. The registration window is to close soon on November 27, 2025. You can apply at jeemain.nta.nic.in. A number of registered students have begun receiving "identity mismatch" emails from the NTA regarding discrepancies found during the verification of uploaded documents. Know what the reason is behind it.

This email from the JEE Main authority NTA does not constitute a rejection as the students had previously received confirmation of submission. Applicants who receive such an email should immediately check all folders (Inbox, Spam, Promotion) for the notification, as the NTA provides an option to correct the error, such as re-uploading a clearer document or photograph or changing the selected identity document entirely.

You must carefully follow the specific instructions in the email and recheck the document clarity before re-uploading. The new registration guidelines feature a live photograph upload and do not include a general correction window for uploaded documents, though automatic verification for PwD details is now integrated via the UDID portal.

Common Reasons for JEE Main 2026 Application Rejection

The most frequent reasons why the NTA rejects JEE Main application forms bases on mismatches in personal data and incorrect document uploads:

Data Mismatch Errors

  • Aadhaar/Document Mismatch: Discrepancy between the details present in the Aadhaar card or Class 10 certificate. NTA uses Aadhaar authentication for verification and mismatches are flagged immediately.
  • Incorrect Personal Details: Spelling errors in the names or DOB that do not exactly match official documents.
  • Incorrect 12th Registration Number: Providing an incorrect/non-existent 12th board registration number.
  • Wrong State Code of Eligibility: Entering the incorrect state code of 12th Board exam.

Document Upload Errors

  • Blurred/Unclear Photograph/Signature: Uploading a photograph or signature that is out of focus, hazy or poor in quality.
  • Non-Compliance with Specifications: The image file size, dimension or format does not match the official specifications.
  • Incorrect Photo Type: Not uploading a recent photo with a white background or using a photo with caps/sunglasses.
  • Live Photo Mismatch: Mandatory live photo capture verification, where the captured photo does not match the photo on the candidate's Aadhaar card can be a cause of rejection.

Procedural/Eligibility Errors

  • Unsuccessful Fee Payment: Failing to complete the application fee transaction successfully. You must download the Confirmation Page as proof of final submission.
  • Multiple Applications: More than one application form submission for the same session. All submitted forms will be rejected.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Not meeting basic eligibility requirements as per NTA guidelines.
  • Wrong Category: Selecting an incorrect reservation category or failing to update/upload the correct category certificate with the necessary details.

Solutions to Avoid Your JEE Main 2026 Application Form Rejection

NTA provides a JEE Main correction window after the main registration deadline to allow you to rectify specific errors. But it's best to avoid errors entirely so that you don't get any email of mismatching identity.
