MAT: About Exam

MAT 2024 CBT 1 registration is open till November 30, 2024 for the December session. The CBT 2 registration will continue until December 15, and PBT registration will continue till December 7, 2024. You can apply for the MAT 2024 through the official website of AIMA MAT at mat.aima.in by paying the application fee of INR 2100. The CBT 1 will be conducted on December 7, 2024, CBT 2 will be conducted on December 22, 2024, and PBT will be conducted on December 14, 2024 for PBT.

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized national-level entrance exam for admission to MBA and allied programs. The MAT 2024 will be conducted in two CBT (computer-based test) modes and one PBT (paper-based mode).

MAT 2024 Registration Process

To register for the MAT 2024 exam, you have to follow these steps below:

Step 1: Visit the AIMA-MAT website at mat.aima.in.

Step 2: Click on “Register” and fill up the registration form.


 

Step 3: After filling up the registration form, click on “Register”.

Step 4: You will receive a verification email on your provided email address.

Step 5: After the verification, log in to your MAT dashboard.

Step 6: Fill out the application form, upload the required documents, and pay the application fees of INR 2100.

MAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

 MAT 2024 Marking Scheme

  • There will be a total of 150 questions from a total of 5 sections and all those questions will be in MCQ format.
  • For each correct answer, candidates will be awarded +1, and for each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of -0.25.

MAT 2024 Selection Process

The candidates who appeared for the MAT exam must have to appear for the group discussion and personal interview, conducted by the admission institute. The MAT exam score is accepted by more than 600 business institutes in India. Here are some brief points to know about the MAT selection process:

  • After the MAT exam, all the rounds will be conducted by the institutes individually.

These are some preparation tips that will help you in your MAT 2024 preparation:

  • Take a practice test to identify your starting point and goal. It will help you to find your areas of weakness and where you need more focus.
  • Time management is also important while preparing for MAT. There are a total of five sections in the MAT syllabus, so allocate specific time for each section.
  • Try to read the newspaper daily, which will help in your reading comprehension.

FAQ - MAT

Ans: The MAT exam takes place four times every year, in February, May, September, and December. The minimum qualification for appearing in any discipline from any recognized institute.

Ans: No, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) does not accept the MAT exam score. They only accept the CAT score for admission to the MBA/PGDM programs.

Ans: AIMA does not conduct the counseling process. The counseling process for MAT will be conducted by the participating institutes after the declaration of the result.

Ans: The duration of the MAT 2024 exam is 120 minutes for all modes. There is no sectional time list in this exam, so make sure to complete the entire paper within the given time.

Ans: You can easily download the MAT score card from mat.aima.in and logging in with the user id and password. Once you logged in to your dashboard, you can easily download the MAT scorecard.

Ans: There is no age limit and work experience required for the MAT 2024 exam. Freshers and candidates with the work experience both can apply for the MAT exam.

Ans: If you comfortable with the pen and paper mode, then you can choose the MAT PBT. If you are comfortable in taking tests on computer, then you can go for MAT CBT. However, both of these exam modes are held in different cities, so you should check the list of test cities before choosing the exam mode.

Ans: The CAT exam is more difficult as compared to the MAT. The CAT scores are accepted by top business schools across India. Whereas, MAT is much easier and its scores are accepted around 600+ management colleges in India.

Ans: MAT exam scores are valid for one academic year. That means, MAT 2024 score will be valid for admission for 2024-2026 MBA session only. If you want to drop a year after taking the exam, then you have to appear for the exam once again next year.

Ans: Once the MAT result is published, the scorecards will be sent to the selected colleges. Those colleges will contact the candidates for the further selection rounds, if the candidates meet the minimum MAT cutoff.
