Students preparing for NEET 2026 should start their studies at least two years ahead. The NEET syllabus comprises chapters from both Class 11 and Class 12. However, students who already understand the basics of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology can choose to begin focused preparation one year before the exam, usually at the start of Class 12. These are some effective strategies to help candidates to prepare for NEET UG 2026:

  • Understand the NEET Exam Format: The first step in preparing for NEET UG 2026 is to understand the exam pattern and structure in detail. Therefore, students should carefully review the syllabus and identify any topics they may have missed during their Class 11 and Class 12 studies, ensuring those areas are covered during their preparation.
  • Know Your Strengths & Weakness: Analyzing your strengths and weaknesses is key to effective preparation. Use this insight to strengthen weaker areas and consistently revise stronger ones to maintain your edge.
  • Practice: Along with the preparation, it is important to practice regularly using a variety of resources such as full-length and sectional NEET mock tests, previous year’s question papers, and test series.
  • Prepare a Timetable: You must set a timetable and follow it strictly. The schedule should include your daily routine, school or college hours, personal time, subject-wise study, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ans: The NEET UG score holds different validity periods depending on the purpose of admission. For candidates seeking admission to UG medical courses within India, the score is valid only for the academic year in which the exam is conducted. This means students must apply for admission in the same year they appear for the NEET UG exam. However, for those planning to pursue MBBS abroad, the score remains valid for three years from the date of result declaration. This extended validity is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and allows students more flexibility when applying to foreign medical universities.

Ans: Candidates need to upload a recent passport-sized photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, and Class 10 certificate. If applicable, category or PwD certificates must also be submitted. All documents should be in the specified format and size as mentioned in the official information bulletin. It's important to keep scanned copies ready before starting the application.

Ans: There is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET UG exam. As long as the candidate meets the eligibility criteria, especially the minimum age requirement of 17 years by the end of the admission year, they can appear for the exam. This change was implemented after the removal of the upper age limit and attempt cap.

Ans: NEET UG 2026 follows the central reservation policy: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC-NCL, 10% for EWS, and 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates. Additionally, state-specific reservations apply during state counselling rounds. Candidates must provide valid supporting documents to claim their reserved category seats.

Ans: NEET UG 2026 scheduled on May 3, 2026 has been postponed to June 21, 2026. The exam is conducted in a single shift on a Sunday, typically from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM.
