The NTA has implemented significant updates to the application process this year, including mandatory live photo capturing and Aadhaar-based e-KYC/Digilocker verification, aimed at streamlining and enhancing authenticity. In this new process, accurate registration is needed to secure your application for JEE Main 2026 exam.
The exam dates for Session 1 are scheduled between January 21 and 30, 2026. The complete application process involves registration, filling out the form, uploading documents, and paying the fees. Registration for Session 2 (scheduled for April 2 to April 9, 2026) will open separately in late January 2026. To ensure a smooth JEE Main 2026 registration, you must prepare specific documents in advance and be careful to avoid common application mistakes.

Mistakes to Avoid During JEE Main 2026 Registration
Avoiding these common errors can prevent application rejection or problems later in the admission process:
- Incorrect Personal Details: Ensure your name, father's/mother's name and DOB match exactly with your Class 10 certificate and Aadhaar card. Minor spelling errors can also cause issues during e-KYC verification.
- Ignoring Photo Specifications: Uploading blurred images, wearing caps or sunglasses or using old photographs is strictly prohibited and can lead to rejection.
- Wrong Category Selection: Carefully select your category (General, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST). Make sure your relevant certificate details are accurate and the details are updated/valid.
- Invalid Contact Information: Provide an active and personal email ID and mobile number, as all official NTA communication (application number, admit card, results) will be sent there.
- Procrastination: Do not wait until the last day to apply. Technical issues, server problems, or payment failures are common right before the deadline.
- Skipping the Instructions: Read the official Information Bulletin thoroughly before starting the application to understand all guidelines, eligibility criteria and new features.
- Read: JEE Main 2026 New Arrangements
- Incomplete Fee Payment: The application is considered incomplete until the fee payment is successful and the confirmation page is generated. Download and save the confirmation page after payment.
- Not Reviewing the Form: Review the entire form carefully before the final submission.
