This year, NTA permitted candidates to opt for a maximum of 5 subjects (including languages and the General Test) to streamline exam logistics. This was a drop from previous years where up to 6 or more subjects were allowed.

Fees for the application are calculated based on the category of the applicant and the absolute number of subjects selected.

While the core exam window was slated for May 11 to May 31, 2026, real-world constraints caused slight adjustments. NTA officially conducted rescheduled papers on June 6 and June 7, 2026. This minor re-exam window was staged to assist candidate batches who encountered isolated technical glitches at specific exam centres on May 30.
