This biannual exam pattern decision was approved by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil during a review meeting held on November 11, 2025. The entrance tests for Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics (PCM), Physics-Chemistry-Biology (PCB) and MBA courses will now mirror the national pattern of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) by offering two attempts.

The first round of CET exams is scheduled for April 2026, with the second following in May 2026. Minister Patil stated this move is intended to align with the national standard, providing students with two opportunities to qualify.

Appearing for one exam will remain mandatory and the second attempt is optional. The higher of the two scores will be considered for admission if a student attempts both exams. The detailed schedule will be announced soon by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, with the goal of reducing student stress and increasing flexibility for admissions into professional and postgraduate programs.
