The NID DAT 2026 Mains Admit Card for the M.Des programme has been released today, February 24, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Candidates who successfully cleared the Prelims can now download their hall tickets from the official portal at admissions.nid.edu using their email ID and date of birth.

The admit card is mandatory for appearing in the Studio Test (scheduled for March 8, 2026) and the Personal Interview (taking place from March 21 to April 1, 2026). Be sure to print a hard copy and verify all details, including your specific test centre address in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, or Gandhinagar. You must bring a printed color copy of the hall ticket and a valid original photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, etc.) to the venue.
NID DAT prelims exam is conducted offline and is divided into two sections: Section A, consisting of MCQs, and Section B, which includes subjective questions. Both programs have a total of 100 marks and no negative marking, there are key differences in the number of questions and exam duration. For the B.Des program, there are 64 MCQs and 3 subjective questions. The M.Des program has 59 MCQs and 3 subjective questions. To qualify for DAT Mains, you must first pass the DAT Prelims by meeting the specified cutoff score. Only then will you be invited to take the Studio Test and Personal Interview.

To download your Mains Hall Ticket 2026, follow these steps:

Eligibility Criteria for NID B.Des. Admission 2026-27
The eligibility requirements for B.Des. program at the National Institute of Design for the 2026-27 academic year candidates must fulfill both the age and educational qualification criteria:
Age Limit
- For Indian Nationals in General & General EWS Categories: You must be born on or after July 1, 2005.
- For Indian Nationals in Reserved Categories (OBC-NCL, SC, ST): You must be born on or after July 1, 2002.
- For Indian Nationals in PwD Category: You must be born on or after July 1, 2000.
- For Foreign Nationals (Overseas): You must be born on or after July 1, 2005.
Educational Qualification
- You must have either passed or be appearing for your higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examination in the academic year 2025-26.
- The qualification can be from any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc.) and must be from a recognized board like CBSE, IB, ICSE, or an equivalent examination.
Equivalent Examinations
The qualifications considered equivalent to the 10+2 system are given here:
- Final examinations of the 10+2 system or a two-year pre-university course from a board or university recognized by the AIU.
- The final examination of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
- Senior Secondary School examination from the National Institute of Open Schooling with at least five subjects.
- An AICTE-approved, three-year full-time diploma after Class 10.
- H.S.C. vocational examination.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) at the Advanced (A) level from London, Cambridge, or Sri Lanka.
- Candidates with equivalent qualifications from a foreign board must provide a mandatory Equivalence Certificate from the AIU.
Eligibility Criteria for NID M.Des. Admission 2026-27
Eligibility requirements for M.Des program at the National Institute of Design for the 2026-27 academic year are given below:
Age Limit
- For Indian Nationals in General & General EWS Categories: You must be born on or after July 1, 1994.
- For Indian Nationals in Reserved Categories (OBC-NCL, SC, ST): You must be born on or after July 1, 1991.
- For Indian Nationals in PwD Category: You must be born on or after July 1, 1989.
- For Foreign Nationals (Overseas): You must be born on or after July 1, 1994.
Educational Qualification
In addition to the age criteria, a candidate must have any of the following qualifications:
- A minimum 4-year Bachelor's Degree in any specialization from a recognized university. You must have appeared for all subjects and backlogs (if any) by June 28, 2026.
- A minimum 4-year full-time Diploma in Design, Fine Arts, Applied Arts, or Architecture from a recognized institution. You must have appeared for all subjects and backlogs (if any) by June 28, 2026.
- A minimum 3-year Bachelor's Degree in any specialization from a recognized university. You must have passed your final examinations by August 2025.
Additionally, Students in their final year of a degree or diploma program are eligible to apply for NID's M.Des. program. However, they must complete all final examinations by June 28, 2026, and submit their final results by July 31, 2026. If a candidate fails to meet this deadline, their provisional admission will be canceled, and their fees will be forfeited. Also, candidates with a degree from a university outside India must obtain and submit an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) during the document submission process.
