The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning a major overhaul of its board examination result process for the year 2027 to make the system more open and digital. Check why CBSE wants to change the system.

Under this proposed framework, starting next year (2027), CBSE students will automatically receive scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets directly via DigiLocker app. CBSE is planning this change as many people complained about issues with this year's digital checking process, known as On-Screen Marking (OSM).

This year, several CBSE XII students complained that their scanned answer sheets were blurry, incomplete, or missing pages. Some students even claimed they received answer sheets written in someone else's handwriting. These issues caused a lot of anger among students, parents, and teachers. It also made people question how well CBSE handles large-scale digital checking. Present protocols dictate that any CBSE student wishing to view their evaluated script must endure a lengthy, multi-stage process that begins with an application for marks verification, requires an additional fee for scanned copies, and culminates in a separate window for re-evaluation. It not only stretches over several weeks every year but also generates hundreds of thousands of individual applications that the board now hopes to minimize entirely.
