How to Calculate MHT CET Result 2026?

The MHT CET 2026 result is calculated based on the number of correct answers given by the candidate and then converted into a percentile score using a normalization process.

MHT CET 2026 Marking Scheme

  • Physics & Chemistry: 1 mark for each correct answer
  • Mathematics: 2 marks for each correct answer
  • Biology: 1 mark for each correct answer
  • There is no negative marking for wrong answers

Depending on your exam group:

  • PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics): Total marks = 200
  • PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology): Total marks = 200

Why is normalization used?

The MHT CET exam is held in multiple shifts. Since the difficulty level of each shift may vary, the State CET Cell uses a normalization method to ensure fairness. This method converts your raw score into a percentile score.

Formula for calculating percentage score:

  • Percentage score = (Number of candidates scoring equal or lower than you / Total number of candidates) x 100

This means, the more the number of candidates scoring lower or equal to you, the higher your percentage will be.

Format of Final Result

The final MHT CET 2026 result will be shown as percentage score for each subject and overall. This percentage will be used to prepare the merit list and determine eligibility for counselling and seat allotment.

MHT CET 2026 Tie-Breaking Rules

If two or more candidates score the same percentage marks in MHT CET 2026, the State CET Cell will apply tie-breaking rules to determine their rank in the merit list.

The rules used for tie-breaking are detailed below:

  • Candidates with higher marks in Mathematics or Biology (depending on the subject group) will be given higher
  • If there is still a tie, the candidate with higher marks in Physics will be given priority.
  • If the tie still remains, the candidates with higher marks in Chemistry will be given preference.
  • Also, candidates with fewer incorrect answers in the above subjects will be given higher rank.
  • If no solution is found yet, the older candidate (by date of birth) will be given priority.

These rules are applied sequentially until the tie is resolved, ensuring a fair and transparent ranking process.
