JELET: About Exam

For admission to second year (3rd semester) of four - year Bachelor's degree courses in Engineering, Technology or Pharmacy (excluding Architecture) in universities, government colleges, as well as at self - financing Engineering and Technological institutes in the state of West Bengal, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will conduct the OMR - based Common Entrance Test (JELET - 2024) and provide counselling.

JELET Exam Conducted By - West Bengal Joint Entrance Lateral Engineering Test (WB JELET) is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). 

Highlights of JELET Examination

West Bengal Joint Entrance Lateral Engineering Test is a state - level aptitude entrance exam for the aspiring students who are seeking admission in  courses in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy  and others (Lateral Entry) offered by the colleges across West Bengal.

 

About West Bengal Joint Entrance Lateral Engineering Test (JELET) 

The JELET 2024 exam will only be offered in English. There will only be objective - style questions in the paper. The exam will consist of 100 questions in total and candidates will have two hours to finish it. Since JELET 2024 is an offline exam, candidates are requested to thoroughly check the OMR sheet before submitting. Candidates who are appearing for Engineering or Technology diploma courses will be asked 70 standard questions and the remaining 30 will depend on their area of specialty. For the candidates of diploma courses in Pharmacy, all 100 questions will come from the pharmacy department; for B.Sc. students all 100 questions will come from the Mathematics section.

Age :  No Bar though for B.Sc courses the maximum age limit is 27 and for Diploma and Marine Engineering courses the maximum age limit is 25.

Types of Questions - Multiple Choice Questions.

 

Marking Process of JELET Exam

Category 1 : 

  • Each correct answer consists of 1 mark.
  • It will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • The question is deemed wrong if multiple responses are marked in a single question.
  • No Answer No Marks.

 

Category 2 :

  • Each correct answer consists of 2 marks and it will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • If a wrong answer is selected for a question with multiple options, it will also be considered as an incorrect one even if the other options are correct.
  • Marks will be given according to the formula = 2 * (No of correct alternatives indicated / Total number of actual correct options) for responses that are partially accurate, that is, answers that do not contain any erroneous options picked.
  • It will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • No Answer No Marks.
