What Is the Tie-Breaking Process for the WBJEE 2026 Result?

Candidates are offered ranks based on the marks secured by them in the exam. So, there may arise a situation where the marks scored by two or more candidates match. To avoid this kind of situation, WBJEEB will follow a tie-breaker methods. It is important to note that, the policy of tie-breaking will be different for General Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR).

Tie Breaking Round for General Merit Rank (GMR)

• Candidates with less negative markings in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) will get the preference in the merit list.
• If the first criteria don't break the tie, then the candidates who will receive less negative marking in Physics and Mathematics taken together will be preferred.
• The next tie-breaking method is, that preference will be given to those candidates who have less negative marking in Chemistry and Mathematics together.
• Candidates with positive marks in the subject of mathematics for 2-mark questions will get the preference.
• If the tie is not resolved, then the candidate with the lowest negative mark in the 2-mark questions of mathematics will be placed higher in the merit list.
• The next tie-breaking method is candidates with less negative marking in the Physics for 2 marks questions with get the preference.
• If all the above-mentioned methods do not resolve the tie, then the date of birth of the candidate will be considered. The older candidate will get the preference over the younger candidate in the merit list.

Tie Breaking Round for Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR)

• Candidates who have fewer negative marks in Chemistry and Physics will get the preference in the merit list.
• Candidates with the more positive marks in Chemistry will receive preference.
• Candidates who have fewer negative marks in the subjects of Chemistry will get the preference.
• Candidates with more marks in the Chemistry for 2-mark questions will be provided with the preference.
• Candidates who have fewer negative marks in the Chemistry paper for 2 marks questions will get the preference.
• Candidates who secure more marks in the Physics for 2 marks questions will get preference.
• Candidates with the less negative marks in Physics for 2 marks questions will be provided with the preference.
• At last, the older candidates will get the preference in the merit list.

What Is the WBJEE 2026 Merit List?

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board (WBJEEB) will also release the merit list along with the results of WBJEE 2026. Candidates whose names will be mentioned in the merit list will be eligible to participate in the WBJEE counselling process. The WBJEE 2026 merit list will compile your overall score as well as the marks in each subject.

Based on the WBJEE examination score, the merit list will be prepared.
