JAM 2025 Exam Pattern: Total Marks, Marking Scheme, Subject-Wise Structure, Shift Timing

The JAM 2025 exam pattern is available on the official website at jam2025.iitd.ac.in. JAM exam is conducted by the IIT every year for admission to M.Sc. courses. IIT JAM 2025 exam is going to held on February 2, 2025 in CBT format. The questions will be asked in three types, MCQ, MSQ, and NAT. From these three sections, a total of 60 questions will be asked for 100 marks.

JAM Exam Pattern 2025: Section Wise

JAM 2025 exam pattern comprises three sections, that is Section A, Section B, and Section C. There will be no negative marking in Section B and C. In Section A, for each 1-mark questions, 1/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect response, and for each 2-mark questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect response. Section A	Comprises of Multiple-Choice Questions as the JAM exam pattern 2025. For each question, there will be four options to choose from. You can make the answer by clicking on the right option.	A total of 30 questions will be asked in the form of MCQs	Out of 30 questions, 10 will carry 1 mark each and the other 20 questions will carry 2 marks each.
Section B	Comprises of MSQ-type questions, similar to the MCQ type. In MSQ section, the number of correct answers can be more than one. If you are successful at choosing the correct options, then you will get full marks for the question. But, if you choose a few of the correct answers, then you will be partially credited.	A total of 10 questions will be asked in the form of MSQ.	For each question, there will be 2 marks.
Section C	This section comprises Numerical Answer Type Questions. The answer to these questions is a signed real number, which must be recorded on the monitor using a virtual numeric keypad. For these types of questions, there will be no options on the screen.	A total of 20 questions will be asked in the Section C.	The first 10 questions will carry 1 mark for each and the other 10 questions will carry 2 marks each.

How to Answer the Questions in JAM 2025?

IIT JAM 2025 exam pattern comprises of mainly three types of questions, that is MCQ, MSQ, and NAT. All these types of questions are answered differently and discussed below:

MCQ: Each Multiple-Choice Questions have four options. You have to select one among all the given options.
MSQ: These types of questions have more than 4 options and you have to choose more than one correct answer. If you were able to choose all these correct options, then you will be rewarded with full marks. By chance, if you miss one option or one of them is wrong, then you will receive partial marks.
NTA: These are subjective types of questions and cannot be answered just by selecting the correct answer. You have to write to answer this type of question.

JAM 2025 Exam Pattern: Important Instructions

While preparing for the JAM 2025 exam, you must follow certain guidelines. These are some exam day guidelines that you must keep in mind:

You must be aware of the items that are not allowed in the exam hall, such as mobile phones, charts, calculators, etc.
A scribble pad will be provided to the students for the rough work. You have to return that scribble pad after the exam.
According to the exam pattern, the computer will be automatically closed after 3 hours of exam duration.
You should not be involved in the use of unfair means in the exam. It can lead to cancellation of the candidature as well as disqualification from appearing in the exam future.

Ans: Candidates from all nationalities are eligible to apply for the IIT JAM 2025 exam and there are no age restrictions. To apply for this exam, you candidates must have to complete their qualifying degree.

Ans: For Section A, 1/3 marks will be deducted for 2-mark questions. For Sections B & C, there will be no negative marking

Ans: You must have to bring the hard copy of the IIT JAM admit card to the exam center. Without the admit card will not be allowed to the exam center on the JAM 2025 exam day.
