Jamia Millia Islamia has decided to reschedule JMI entrance exam originally planned for May 10th and 11th specifically for students from Jammu and Kashmir. This decision acknowledges the current circumstances and prioritizes the well-being of these students. JMI will conduct these admission tests for J&K students at a later, separate date.

According to a JMI statement, this rescheduling aims to provide an opportunity for students from Jammu and Kashmir who applied but were unable to attend the tests.

The admission exams for the remaining students other than the students of J&K, however, will take place on May 10 and 11, 2025, as planned. April 26 marked the start of the current JMI admission test series, which will end on May 31.

Jammu and Kashmir Students Association had issued an urgent appeal earlier this week. They asked Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and JMI Vice-Chancellor Prof Mazher Asif to postpone the exams for students from J&K. The association's national convenor, Nasir Khuehami, stressed the severe issues with the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, which is the only way to travel. He mentioned it was overcrowded, unsafe, and currently closed because of heavy rain and landslides.

Khuehami emphasized the high stakes of these tests and the anxiety that results among applicants by saying that many students were stranded or unable to move past Banihal. The association requested either a postponement or a separate round of admissions for the affected students, clarifying that they were seeking a fair opportunity, not special treatment.
