Common Admission Test (CAT) is the most esteemed national entrance exam in India and provides admission at India's top most B schools. It conducts once a year. This exam is administered by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) every year in a rotational order.

Common Admission Test is a national - level management aptitude entrance exam for the aspiring students who are seeking admission in  various management courses like PGP, MBA, Executive MBA, Ph.D and others offered by colleges such as Indian Institute of Management & Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University.

About Common Admission Test (CAT) 

Candidates who are planning to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) must know all the details about the exam.  The CAT exam is 2 hours (120 minutes) long. The three key sections of CAT exam syllabus is - 

• Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
• Quantitative Aptitude (QA)
• Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC)

The CAT exam consists of 66 questions in total and for each section forty minutes will be allotted. Other necessary details about the exam is given below :

• Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension  - 24 Questions (21 MCQs and 3 TITA Questions)
• Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning - 20 Questions (14 MCQs and 6 TITA Questions)
• Quantitative Aptitude - 22 Questions (14 MCQs and 8 TITA Questions)

Total Marks - 198 

Exam Timing -120 minutes (2 hours)

Types of Questions - 2 types

• Multiple Choice Questions.
• Type in The Answer Questions.

Marking Process of CAT Exam 

• Three marks, for each correct mcq question.
•  -1 mark, for each incorrect mcq question.
• No answer no Marks.

• No answer no Marks.

CAT Exam 2024 (Tentative)  

This exam is Computer - based and two hours long. It is generally conducted in November each year, here are the tentative dates of 2024 CAT exam :

• Conducted By - Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta
• Notification Release Date - Last Week of July, 2024
• Online Application Form - 4th August, 2024
• Last Date of Submission the Application Form - 15th September, 2024
• Exam Dates - 24th November, 2024.
• Exam timings - 

     - Slot 1:  08:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.

     - Slot 2:  12:30 p.m. - 02:30 p.m.

     - Slot 3:  04:30 p.m. - 06:30 p.m.

• Result Date - First Week of January, 2025.
