A comprehensive timetable for 204 subjects was issued 110 days in advance to avoid entrance exam clashes, but the Board has recently rescheduled exams originally set for March 3, 2026, moving the Class X exam to March 11 and the Class XII exam to April 10 due to administrative reasons.

To be eligible for these finals, which involve approximately 45 lakh students, students must maintain 75% attendance and pass their internal assessments. Furthermore, practical examinations and internal assessments are strictly mandated to take place between January 1 and February 14, 2026, under rigorous guidelines that require schools to coordinate with CBSE-appointed external examiners. No post-submission corrections of these practical marks will be permitted.

Factors Considered While Preparing the CBSE 2026 Date Sheet

The CBSE 2026 Date Sheet prioritizes sufficient gaps, avoids subject clashes, aligns with entrance exams and manages teacher evaluation. Check the facts below:

  • Sufficient Gap: Adequate gaps have been provided between subjects commonly offered by students in both classes.
  • Entrance Exam Alignment: The schedule ensures the examinations conclude well before major Class XII entrance examinations (like JEE) to allow students better time management.
  • Evaluation Management: The schedule minimizes the simultaneous and prolonged absence of teachers for evaluation duties, preventing disruption to non-board classes.
  • Subject Combination Safety: The Date Sheet was prepared to avoid a clash for over 40,000 subject combinations, ensuring no two subjects offered by a single student fall on the same date.
  • JEE (Main) Requirement: Schools must provide their Class XII students with their Class XI Registration Number, as NTA requires it for the JEE Main application to prevent clashes with the CBSE exam schedule.
