The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board has announced that WBJEE result 2025 are likely to be declared on August 07, 2025, marking a delay of over three months since the exam was conducted. According to the Board, the postponement was necessitated by ongoing legal proceedings related to the state's revised list of OBC sub-categories. Candidates awaiting their results can expect the official declaration next week, ending the uncertainty.

WBJEE Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee clarified that WBJEE 2025 result originally scheduled for release by June 05, 2025, were delayed due to legal complications concerning the state's OBC sub-category list. Speaking at a press conference, she stated, "The examinations were held on April 27, 2025, and preparations for the results were complete by June 05, 2025. However, the OBC matter necessitated the postponement." The final results are now expected on August 07, 2025, providing much-needed clarity to anxious candidates.

In compliance with a recent directive from West Bengal Higher Education Department, the WBJEE Board has instructed candidates to verify and update their social category details between July 31 and August 02, 2025. Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee confirmed the move, stating, "We have notified candidates via SMS and public notices to ensure their category information is accurate before final processing." Once the updates are complete, the Board aims to announce the much-awaited results by August 07, 2025 pending no further delays.

The WBJEE Board has officially notified candidates about a crucial opportunity to verify and update their social category details before result declaration. As per the official notification "All WBJEE-2025 candidates must verify or modify their Social Category Details by August 02, 2025 till 11:59 PM to ensure accuracy during result processing and document verification." This critical step aims to prevent discrepancies and streamline the admission process, with results expected shortly after the deadline.

The WBJEE Board has activated a dedicated portal link allowing candidates to update their social category details before deadline. According to the official notice, final verification of these submissions will be conducted by designated institutes during the admission process. The Board cautioned that "All updates remain subject to final approval pending the resolution of ongoing legal proceedings." This measure ensures candidate data accuracy while maintaining compliance with current judicial review requirements.

The Calcutta High Court has directed the West Bengal government and WBJEE Board to submit an explanation in writing why the WBJEE 2025 result has been delayed for three months. Justice Sujoy Paul's court gave this order on July 29, 2025, after a student's parent filed a case about the late results. The court's intervention comes after the April-conducted examination's results were postponed multiple times due to ongoing legal challenges regarding OBC reservations.

The WBJEE result 2025 declaration has been caught in a judicial crossfire after the state government's move to expand OBC sub-categories from 64 to 140 faced legal challenges. While the Calcutta High Court initially stayed the quota expansion, the Supreme Court intervened on July 28, 2025 to suspend the stay, creating further complications. This back-and-forth between the judiciary has been the primary cause for delay in announcing the engineering entrance exam results, leaving nearly 1.2 lakh candidates in uncertainty.
