VIT administers the VITREE for admission to its Ph.D, Direct Ph.D., and Ph.D (Deep Technology) programs. The VITREE 2026 exam for January session is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2025, and will be held in 25 cities across India. This two-hour examination consists of MCQs, with one mark awarded for each correct answer and no negative marking for incorrect ones. Remember, candidates who score a total of zero will be declared "Not qualified" and will not be eligible to proceed to the personal interview stage.

VITREE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility for VITREE 2026 varies depending on the specific program (Ph.D., Direct Ph.D., Ph.D. in Deep Technology) and the stream (Engineering, Non-Engineering, etc.). The general and program-specific requirements are given below:

  • For Ph.D. in Engineering: A candidate must hold a Master's degree in engineering or technology in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.
  • For Direct Ph.D. in Engineering: The candidate must have an outstanding academic record with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology and a minimum of 75% aggregate marks or a CGPA of 7.5 on a 10-point scale.
  • For other programs like Ph.D. in Sciences, Management, or Languages, a Master's degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale is required.
