BITSAT 2026: Why Scoring High Won't Guarantee a BITS Seat Unless You Do This

For thousands of engineering aspirants targeting BITS Pilani, Goa, or Hyderabad, the entire focus is currently locked onto cracking the BITSAT 2026 entrance exam. However, an essential rule in the BITS admission brochure reveals a critical detail that catches hundreds of students off guard every single year: Simply registering for and appearing in the BITSAT exam is not enough to secure a college seat.

To actually be considered for admission, every candidate must complete an entirely separate step—filling out the BITS First Degree (FD) Preference Form—on or before June 3, 2026. BITSAT 2026 Registration: The Two-Step Application Process Explained

Getting a seat at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) requires completing a dual-stage application process. Think of it as buying a ticket to an exclusive event versus booking your actual seat row inside the venue.

Without completing Step 2, BITS will treat your application as incomplete. Even if you achieve a perfect score on your BITSAT paper, the computer system will simply not generate a seat allotment for you.

What Do Session 2 Applicants Need to Do Right Now?

A major point of confusion among aspirants is whether they should wait for their Session 2 results before filling out the preference form.

Do not wait. BITSAT 2026 Session 2 takes place from May 25 to 27, 2026. Because the admission portal closes just a few days later on June 3, you must fill out your preference form regardless of your exam status.

You do not need to manually enter your test scores into this form. BITS maintains your scores on their servers. Once Session 2 concludes, their counseling software automatically pulls your best score out of both sessions and matches it against the college wish list you submitted.

What If Class 12 Results Are Delayed?

Many state boards and open schools (like NIOS) do not declare results before the end of May. If you are caught in this situation, BITS has issued an official clarification. Here is exactly how delayed board results are handled:

The June 1st Deadline Cannot Be Skipped

Even if you do not have your marksheet yet, you must log in, select your program/campus preferences, and pay the mandatory application fee between April 21 and June 1, 2026. Failing to do this means automatic disqualification from the 2026 admission cycle.

The July 10 Grace Period

While your preference list and fee are due by June 3, BITS grants a special extension strictly for uploading academic scores. Delayed-result candidates are permitted to submit their Class 12 marks and upload their corresponding marksheet or passing certificate on or before July 10, 2026, once their respective boards declare them.

Strict Warning on Eligibility

BITS authorities have made it clear that letting you submit a form without marks is an act of provisional permission. The Official Warning: If at any stage of the admission process it is discovered that a candidate does not meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, their candidature will be cancelled immediately—irrespective of the stage at which it is found.

To avoid a last-minute cancellation in July, ensure you comfortably meet the core BITS eligibility criteria:

• A minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) or Biology (PCB).
• At least 60% marks in each individual subject (Physics, Chemistry, and Math/Biology).

• May 20, 2026: Release of BITSAT Session 2 Admit Cards.  
• May 25 – May 27, 2026: BITSAT Session 2 Revised Exam Window.
• April 21 – June 1, 2026: Window to submit the FD Preference Form and application fee.
• June 3 – June 5, 2026: Online editing window for correcting minor form errors.
• June 15, 2026: Announcement of Iteration I Admit List and Waitlist.
• July 10, 2026: Ultimate deadline to upload Class 12 marks (only for delayed board results).

UP NEET PG 2025 counselling will be conducted in four rounds, allocating 85% state quota seats based on choices, NEET scores, and reservations. The remaining 15% All India Quota seats will be managed by MCC.

UP NEET PG 2025 counselling dates have been officially released on the state’s exam portal, upneet.gov.in. You can begin round 1 registration process from November 06, 2025. To participate in the seat allocation, you must register online and submit your preferred choices of colleges and courses. The deadline for application submission is October 10, 2025.
