Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has issued a public advisory to its students, warning them about individuals who are fraudulently posing as university officials to collect money. According to a notice from the university, these imposters are using personal emails, phone calls, and other methods to demand payments for services such as examination fees, grade cards, degrees, transcripts, certificate verification, project and practical fees, and revaluation.

It has been made clear by IGNOU that it has never given permission for anyone to obtain funds through illegitimate means. All payments must be made directly and exclusively through the university's official website, ignou.ac.in.
