Based on previous trends, GATE 2026 registrations are expected to exceed 936,000 applicants, marking a potential 20% increase from 2025. Last year, in GATE 2025 around 747,319 candidates appeared for the exam across various engineering and science disciplines.

IIT Guwahati is set to conclude GATE 2026 registration process on September 28, 2025, without a late fee. Eligible candidates who have not yet applied can still complete the online application at official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Even after the deadline, applicants will be allowed to submit their GATE application form with a late fee until October 09, 2025.

GATE 2026 exam will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, in two shifts each day. As per official schedule, GATE 2026 result will be announced on March 19, 2026. Candidates can download their scorecards for free from March 27 to May 31, 2026. After this period, the scorecard will be available from June 01 to December 31, 2026, with a fee of INR 500.

  • Step 2: Click on the application portal link available on the homepage.
  • Step 3: Register by entering your name, email ID, and mobile number to generate an enrollment ID.
  • Step 4: Log in using your enrollment ID and password to access GATE 2026 application form.
  • Step 5: Fill in your personal, academic, and contact
  • Step 6: Choose your GATE paper and preferred exam cities.
  • Step 7: Upload the required scanned documents, including your photograph and signature, and pay the registration fee online.
  • Step 8: Review all details, submit the application, and download or print a copy for future reference.

Ans: To appear for the GATE 2026 exam, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Applicants must have completed, or be in the third or final year of, an undergraduate degree program in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, or Humanities. There is no minimum percentage required in the qualifying exam to apply for GATE 2026.
  • Age Limit: There is no age limit to appear for GATE exam.
  • Nationality: Indian citizens are eligible. International candidates with the required academic qualifications can also apply.
  • Eligible Countries for GATE 2026: Students from Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and UAE are allowed to register.
