Since the JEE Main exam is conducted in multiple sessions with varying difficulty levels, the National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a normalization process to ensure fairness among all candidates. This process converts raw scores into percentiles, allowing equal comparison across sessions.

Percentiles are calculated separately for each session and for each subject - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as well as for the total score.
The formula used is:
Percentile = (100 x Number of candidates scoring < your raw score) / Total number of candidates in that session
