  • Questions in this section are asked from vocabulary and grammar, including topics such as one-word substitutions, analogies, and cloze tests.
  • The difficulty level of the questions in this section is moderate.

Section 2: Reading Comprehension

  • There will be a total of 30 questions in this section and not be combined with the Verbal Ability.
  • This section includes 2 to 4 passages each with 6 to 8 questions. These passages are generally 500 to 600 words long.
  • Most of the questions are directly related to the passage, and answers can be found in the passage itself.

Section 3: Quantitative Ability

  • This section usually consists of 30 questions, and the questions are asked from Mathematics.
  • The level of difficulty usually ranges between easy to moderate.

Section 4: Data Sufficiency & Data Interpretation

  • This section consists total of 30 questions, which is divided equally between Data Sufficiency and Data Interpretation.
  • Questions are based on Pie Charts, Tables, Line Graphs, and other data formats.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ans: Officially IBS didn't announce any major structural changes in the IBSAT syllabus for 2026 compared to recent years. The four sections remain the same:

  • Verbal Ability
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Data Adequacy & Data Interpretation.

One small change is that Reading Comprehension is clearly separated as its own section (30 questions) rather than being grouped with Verbal Ability: this has been emphasized more in recent announcements.

Ans: Important topics in Data Interpretation & Data Adequacy / Data Sufficiency include:

  • Interpreting various data‐representations: tables, pie charts, bar charts, line graphs, mixed/combined charts with data.
  • Data comparison, statements based on data or graphs (finding correct inferences).
  • Data sufficiency (i.e. judging if given statements provide enough info).
  • Logical reasoning in interpreting data, e.g. drawing conclusions, finding assumptions from graphs or data.

Ans: No — there is no negative marking in IBSAT 2026. Each correct answer gives +1 mark, and incorrect or unanswered questions do not lead to any penalty.

Ans: Here’s the pattern for Reading Comprehension (RC) in IBSAT 2026:

  • There are 30 questions in total for RC.
  • The RC section consists of both long passages (about 3 passages each with approx. 8 questions) and one shorter passage (around 6 questions) in many past years.
  • The passage‐topics tend to be on current affairs, business & economics, social issues, literature etc. Some questions are direct (answers found in the passage), while others are inference or implication based.
  • The word count for passages: long ones in the range of ~500-700 words; shorter ones about ~500 words.

Ans: Based on recent trends, these are high-weightage / high scoring topics:

Verbal Ability is the biggest section: 50 questions (≈36% of total) so doing well here gives a strong score.

Within Verbal, topics like Synonyms / Antonyms, Error Spotting / Sentence Correction, Jumbled Sentences / Para-jumbles, One-word substitutions, Phrase replacements are frequent and predictable; practicing these gives good returns.

In Quantitative Aptitude, topics from Arithmetic (percentages, ratio, averages, time speed distance etc.), Algebra, Geometry / Coordinate Geometry tend to occur often.

In Data Interpretation & Adequacy, being strong in interpreting charts / graphs, being able to draw inference, and understanding which statements are sufficient are scoring skills.
