10+2 Examination Passing Requirements for WBJEE Registration
To successfully complete your course, you must pass both the theoretical and the practical or project exams. This rule applies to every subject combination you have chosen. You cannot pass the subject as a whole unless you clear both the written paper and the hands-on project work separately.

WBJEE Engineering and Technology Admission Requirements
To qualify for admission into Engineering or Technology courses, you must pass your 10+2 exams with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. In addition to these two, you must have studied one other subject from an approved list, such as Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology, or Informatics Practices. Meeting these subject requirements ensures you are eligible to participate in the engineering entrance and counseling process.
WBJEE 2026 Registration Live: English Subject Qualification Requirement
All candidates must have passed the English subject in their 10+2 or equivalent examination. A minimum of 30% marks in English is mandatory to meet the eligibility criteria for most courses. Please note that you must pass both the theory and practical/project components of the subject as required by your respective board.
Domicile Requirements for WBJEE 2026 Registration
To be considered a domicile of West Bengal, a student must have lived in the state for at least 10 years or have parents who are permanent residents. For students residing in the state for 10 years, Proforma A1 or A2 should be used, while Proforma B is required if only the parents are permanent residents. Proforma A1 and B must be signed by an official like a DM, SDO, or BDO, whereas Proforma A2 is signed by the Head of the student's 10+2 school. Please note that elected representatives like MPs or MLAs cannot sign these final certificates. You must have these documents ready for reporting or counselling, as old certificates are not valid for the 2026 session.
WBJEE 2026 Application Process for the Defence Quota
To apply for a seat under the Defence Quota in WBJEE 2026, you must first appear for the entrance exam and secure a General Merit Rank (GMR). After getting your rank, you need to apply through the Rajya Sainik Board with your rank card and relevant service documents. The board will verify your eligibility and include your name in a special merit list for the reserved seats.
For the 2026 session, there are 13 reserved seats (11 in Government Engineering & Technology Colleges and 2 at Jadavpur University).
TFW Scheme for WBJEE Application
The Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme provides a significant tuition fee reduction for students with a family annual income below INR 2.50 lakhs. This waiver can save you lakhs of rupees over a four-year course, though you still need to pay miscellaneous fees like hostel or library charges. To apply, you must be a permanent resident of the state and obtain a TFW certificate using the "Appendix-4" format. This certificate must be signed by an authorized officer, such as a BDO or SDO, and must be issued for the current financial year to be valid for admissions.
WBJEE Examination Zones
When applying, you must select three examination zones in your order of preference. Candidates from West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura have a wide range of locations to choose from. However, if you are a resident of any other state, you must select your preferred zones from a restricted list of specific locations.
WBJEE Registration PwD Certification Process
Candidates with at least 40% of a specified disability, including blood disorders like Thalassemia, are eligible for several benefits. These concessions include a 40% reduction in fees, 20 minutes of extra time for every hour of an exam, and the use of a scribe or reader. To receive these benefits, you must provide a valid disability certificate. Special arrangements for scribes and extra time are managed specifically at the Board's Kolkata office, located at Rupanna.

WBJEE 2026 Question Categories
The WBJEE 2026 examination structure follows a three-category marking system. Each category has a unique set of rules regarding multiple-choice options and negative marking.
Feature | Category 1 | Category 2 | Category 3 |
Number of Correct Options | Only one | Only one | One or more |
Marks for Correct Answer | +1 | +2 | +2 |
Negative Marking | -0.25 (1/4 mark) | -0.50 (1/2 mark) | No negative marking |
Partial Marking | Not Applicable | Not Applicable | Available (for partially correct responses) |
WBJEE Registration 2026 Live: The No-Correction Zones
The board provides a "Correction Window" (scheduled for April 7–9, 2026). You cannot change your Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Gender, Domicile, or Date of Birth once the initial registration is submitted. These fields are considered "Primary Data". Pro tip: Make accuracy during the first 10 minutes of WBJEE registration more important than the entire rest of the form.
"Zero-Risk" Question Strategy for WBJEE Examination
During registration, candidates often worry about the complexity of the exam. An interesting feature of the WBJEE paper structure is Category 3 questions. Unlike Categories 1 and 2, Category 3 questions have no negative marking. These are multiple-select questions where you can gain partial marks for correct options without any penalty for wrong ones—a rare "safe" zone in competitive exams.
