The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the re-conduct of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for three specific subjects: English, Commerce, and Sociology. Check if candidates have to apply again for the re-exam 2026 and what the exam dates are.

Following multiple complaints regarding extensive errors in three subjects of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination NTA has formally decided to re-conduct the tests for these specific papers. An inquiry committee set up by the NTA revealed widespread factual, typographical, translation, stem wording, grammatical, and punctuation errors, along with garbled book titles, misspelt scholar names, non-standard terminology, and a significant repetition of past questions. Concluding that such defects compromise the standards of a fair examination and cannot be resolved by merely dropping questions, the NTA has scheduled the re-examination for English (Shift 1) and Commerce (Shift 2) on September 9, 2026, followed by Sociology (Shift 1) on September 10, 2026, at no additional examination fee for affected candidates.
The UGC NET result processing for the remaining 84 subjects will proceed as scheduled without delay, and the allocation of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) seats and Assistant Professor eligibility for the three re-conducted subjects will ensure that candidate qualification numbers are preserved at a minimum of 6% based on whichever attendance count is higher, ensuring no candidate is disadvantaged.
