The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the resumption of the 'Own Scribe' facility for eligible Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates, effectively holding in abeyance the provision of their previous notice dated 03.09.2025.

This decision follows a clarification issued by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) on 10.09.2025, which stated that all competitive public examinations notified on or before December 31, 2025, may revert to the system in vogue prior to the 01.08.2025 guidelines.

All other terms and conditions regarding the scribe facility will be governed by the Commission's Scribe Procedure Notice dated 25.10.2024, adhering to the DEPwD guidelines of 29.08.2018 and 10.08.2022.

SSC’s Two New Mandatory Conditions for 'Own Scribe' Facility

To maintain fairness, the resumed 'Own Scribe' facility is subject to two new mandatory conditions, in addition to the existing criteria. Check them below:

  • Age Restriction: The scribe's age must correspond appropriately to the educational qualification required for the examination.
    • Matric/10+2 Level Exam: Age should normally not be > 20 years.
    • Graduate Level Exam: Age should normally not be > 22 years.
  • Mandatory Aadhaar Authentication: Every scribe proposed by the candidate must undergo Aadhaar-based authentication at the time of the examination. Failure to authenticate will disqualify the 'Own Scribe,' and the candidate must either accept a scribe provided by the Commission or forgo the facility entirely.
