Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is to end the registration window for 25,487 General Duty (GD) Constable positions in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Rifleman (GD) posts in Assam Rifles recruitment drive. The registration window is active and will close on December 31, 2025 (at 23:00), with the deadline for fee payment being January 1, 2026. A 3-day correction window will be provided after the closing date, allowing candidates to modify/correct the form upon payment of stipulated charges. The examination is tentatively scheduled to take place between February and April 2026. Of the total vacancies, 23,467 posts are for male and 2,020 are for female candidates.

Selected candidates will be allotted posts in the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Assam Rifles (AR) and the Secretariat Security Force (SSF)

SSC GD Constable 2026 Application Steps

You must complete the mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new official website: https://ssc.gov.in. OTR generated on the old website (https://ssc.nic.in) is not valid. Check the following steps:

  • Step 1: Log in using your OTR user ID and password on the SSC website or the ‘mySSC’ mobile application.
  • Step 2: Click on the link for the GD Constable recruitment
  • Step 3: Fill in all sections of the Online Application Form.
  • Step 4: Capture a real-time photograph following strict guidelines.
  • Step 5: Upload your scanned signature in specific size and format.
  • Step 6: Pay the application fee of INR 100 (Fee exemption is applicable to women, SC, ST, and ESM candidates eligible for reservation.).
  • Step 7: Review all details carefully using the Preview option.
  • Step 8: Submit the completed Online Application Form by the deadline

Eligibility Criteria for SSC GD 2026

Check all required qualifications and criteria below to be eligible for SSC GD 2026:

Nationality

You Must be a citizen of India and must also possess a domicile or Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) from respective state/UT, as vacancies are allocated on a state/UT/area basis.

Educational Qualification

You must have passed the 10th class examination or an equivalent qualification from a recognized Board/University.

Age Limit

Age limit must be between 18 and 23 years.

Age Relaxation: Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided for reserved categories as per government rules:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years (after deduction of military service from the real age)
  • Victims of 1984 riots/2002 Gujarat communal riots (various categories): 5 to 10 years

There are further relaxations for candidates from specific regions like Garhwal, Kumaon, Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA), North Eastern States, and LWE affected districts. Weight must be proportionate to height and age.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Those who will qualify in the Computer-Based Examination will be shortlisted for the PET, which involves a race:

Your OTR remains valid for all future SSC exams once you generate it on the new site. You are strongly advised to use Aadhaar Based Authentication during OTR to prevent photo/signature-related rejection.

  • Find a place with good light and a plain background.
  • Ensure the camera is at eye level.
  • Position yourself to look straight ahead, ensuring your face is fully inside the prescribed area.
  • Do not wear a cap, mask, or glasses/spectacles.

Ans: The specific technical requirements for the scanned signature are:

  • Format: JPEG
  • File Size: Between 10 to 20 KB.
  • Dimensions: ~ [6.0 cm (width) * 2.0 cm (height)].

If the signature is blurred, miniature, or otherwise inappropriate, your application will be summarily rejected.

Ans: You can use either Aadhaar-Based Authentication during registration or by uploading multiple proofs (Name, DOB, Address, Gender, Photo). Applicants claiming reservation (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ESM) must possess valid certificates and SC/ST/OBC candidates migrating between states must choose to claim reservation from their State of Origin or apply as Unreserved from the State of Migration. An applicant with Disabilities (PwD) is ineligible for this examination.
