The National Institute of Design (NID) has officially started the registration process for the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2026. This entrance exam is for admission to B.Des and M.Des programs for the 2026-27 academic session. The application form is available online at admissions.nid.edu, and the deadline to apply is December 1, 2025.

The DAT Prelims exam will be held on December 21, 2025. To be eligible for the B.Des program, students must have completed or be appearing for their Class 12 exams in any stream. For M.Des, applicants need a bachelor's degree or a four-year diploma. Pay the application fee to complete the process. A correction window to edit the application form will be open from December 2 to December 4, 2025. The B.Des program is offered at NID Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam, while the M.Des program is available at NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bengaluru.
NID DAT 2026 B.Des, M.Des Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for NID B.Des and M.Des programs are given below:
For NID DAT 2026, B.Des candidates must have passed or be appearing for their Class 12 exams. The age limit is July 1, 2005 for General, July 1, 2002 for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and July 1, 2000 for PwD. For M.Des, candidates need a bachelor's degree of at least three or four years. The age limit is July 1, 1993 for General, July 1, 1990 for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and July 1, 1988 for PwD. Separate age limits apply to foreign nationals.

NID DAT 2026 Application Form: How to Fill?
Here is a step-by-step process to fill out NID DAT 2026 application form:
- Step 1: Visit the official NID portal admissions.nid.edu.
- Step 2: Click the registration link and choose your program (B.Des or M.Des). Then, enter your personal details like your name, email ID, mobile number, and date of birth to create a unique applicant account.
- Step 3: Use your email ID and date of birth to log in to your new account. Fill in all the required information, including your educational background, contact details, and personal information. You will also need to select your preferred NID 2026 exam center.
- Step 4: Next, upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and any required category documents. Make sure they are in the specified format.
- Step 5: This is the final step. Review your application thoroughly, as you will not be able to make any changes after the fee is paid and the application is submitted.
