Competition for GATE 2026 will be intense due to over 10 lakh expected registrations, driven by more PSU and M.Tech opportunities. IIT Guwahati has released the official GATE 2026 two-paper combination list on its website. Check below for the available paper codes and combinations.
IIT Guwahati, the organizer of GATE 2026, has released crucial information on its official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The details include the official list of GATE 2026 paper combinations, required documents and a list of exam cities.
The GATE 2026 application process starts on August 25, 2025. Candidates can apply without a late fee until September 25 and with a late fee until October 6. The exams are scheduled for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, with two shifts each day.
To register, you must first create an account on the GOAPS portal to get an enrollment ID and password. After logging in, you can fill out the application, upload the necessary documents and pay the fee.
The application fees vary by candidate category:
- Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates: INR 1,000 (regular) and INR 1,500 (with late fee)
- All other candidates: INR 2,000 (regular) and INR 2,500 (with late fee)
There are no changes to the GATE two-paper combinations. Candidates should use the provided list when selecting their primary and secondary papers during the application process, provided below.

How to Apply for the GATE Second Paper?
You can apply for a second GATE paper while filling out the application form. You must select a primary test paper first, and your second paper must be chosen from the official list of allowed combinations. While the exam center for both papers will be in the same city, it might be a different venue.
