The exam experienced an initial delay, being rescheduled from its original September dates to a new schedule. The exam finally ran from November 12 to 30, 2025 spanned nearly 300 centres in over 120 cities, primarily due to date clashes with the SSC CGL and other logistical challenges.

The exam saw an unprecedented 30.7 lakh application for only 3,131 total vacancies. It signals high intense competition. To manage candidate convenience SSC introduced a new self-slotting feature (available from October 22 to 28, 2025). Approximately 15.6 lakh+ candidates used this system to actively choose their preferred exam city, date and shift. Those who missed the slot booking window were automatically assigned a schedule, with the system successfully placing nearly 95% of all candidates in their preferred cities.
