Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed a major change for railway job. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) recruitment will now be conducted annually by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

Mr. Vaishnaw announced the recruitment change at the 41st Raising Day of the RPF in Valsad. This move is intended to simplify the recruitment of RPF Sub-Inspectors (SI) and Constables. With this annual policy, you will no longer face long waits for the next recruitment cycle for RPF, making the process faster and more convenient.

Under this new arrangement, the SSC will handle all stages of RPF recruitment, including issuing notifications, accepting applications and conducting exams and the physical tests, document verification and final selection after the exam.

This new shift ensures a more systematic and fair process, consistent with other major central government exams like the SSC CGL and CHSL, increasing candidates’ confidence in the selection system.

Focus on Modern Technology and Training

The Minister also outlined plans to modernize the RPF. The force will soon be equipped with advanced communication tools like VHF sets and will receive training in digital technology, cyber safety and drone operations.

These updates are part of ‘government's strategy’ to transform the RPF into a modern, tech-savvy security force capable of effectively addressing both traditional and digital challenges.

Eligibility for RPF Sub-Inspector (SI) and Constabel Recruitment

To be eligible for RPF Constable & SI you must:

  • You must be an Indian citizen.
  • You should hold a postgraduate degree from a recognized university.
  • You have to fulfill the age limit, physical standards, and medical requirements set by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
