JEE Main is already a topic of concern among students. Many are asking whether the exam will be held offline again. As per recent update, a parliamentary committee has raised concerns over the conduct of exams by NTA. In 2024, at least 5 out of 14 major competitive exams faced significant issues. So, the panel has suggested that major examinations like JEE Main should return to offline mode.

In 2024, major exams such as CSIR NET, UGC NET, and NEET UG were postponed, while NEET UG also faced paper leak controversies. CUET UG and PG results were delayed.

Additionally, in JEE Main 2025, 12 questions had to be removed from JEE Main answer key due to errors. These incidents have raised doubts about the reliability of NTA exams.

Will JEE Main Move Back to Offline Mode?

Currently, the suggestion to conduct JEE Main offline is only a recommendation by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports. The panel noticed that exams like pen-and-paper based CBSE and UPSC have remained secure and leak-proof for years.

The committee suggested that NTA should consider a similar model and study how these exams are conducted. It also suggested that computer-based tests should be held only in government-run centres.

At the same time, the panel urged NTA to improve its systems to prevent mistakes and delays in future exams, as such issues undermine students’ trust in the agency and the overall exam system.
