The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad is set to officially open its first overseas campus in Dubai on September 11, 2025, making it the first IIM to establish a full-fledged presence outside India.

Announced during the institute's 60th convocation, this milestone reflects IIM-A strategic commitment to global outreach and transformative learning, as highlighted by Director Professor Bharat Bhasker. The expansion marks a significant step in bringing world-class Indian management education to a global audience.

IIM Ahmedabad Dubai campus will initially operate from Dubai International Academic City, offering a one-year MBA program tailored for professionals and entrepreneurs. The program will be complemented by executive education courses, focusing on AI, innovation, and regional business dynamics, catering to learners from Middle East, North Africa, and other global markets.

This international expansion was formalized through an MoU signed in April 2025 with UAE authorities, marking a significant milestone for IIM Ahmedabad. As part of a phased development plan, the initial setup will gradually move to a custom-built permanent campus, expected to be fully operational by 2029.

While IIM Ahmedabad leads as the first premier management institute to establish an overseas campus, India's top engineering institutes have already laid the foundation for global academic expansion. In 2023, IIT Madras opened its campus in Zanzibar, followed by IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus in 2024. Meanwhile, IIT Bombay is preparing to launch a campus in Japan, initially focusing on research-oriented programs.
