Ans: If you’re targeting IIMs (95–99+ percentile), it’s best to start preparation around Aug–Oct of the previous year of the CAT exam. You will have 12 to 14 months to develop your ideas, practice, and take a lot of practice exams. Beginning in January or March, concentrated study sessions and frequent mock exams may be sufficient for top non-IIMs (85–95 percentile). While late beginnings should use a mock-first strategy to swiftly identify and improve on weak areas, early starters can advance from the fundamentals to mock-based refining. Timed tests and regular practice are essential in both situations.
