What Are the Detailed Eligibility Criteria for SRMJEEE 2026?

To apply for SRMJEEE 2026, candidates must fulfill several conditions related to educational qualification, age, subjects and more. The complete eligibility details are given below:

Nationality

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens.
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) are also eligible.
  • Foreign nationals can apply separately through the International Admissions Department.

Age Limit

  • Candidates must have completed 16 tears 6 months by July 31 of the calendar year in which their class 12 board examination is scheduled to be held.

Qualifying Examination

  • Applicants must have passed or appeared for the Class XII (10+2) examination in 2026.
  • The examination must be from a recognized board, such as CBSE, ISC, State Board or equivalent.
  • Students studying International Baccalaureate (IB) with Diploma or Cambridge A-Level are also eligible.

Subject Requirements

  • Candidates must have studied Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects in Class XII.

In addition to these, they must have studied one of the following subjects:

  • Mathematics - for most B.Tech courses, or
  • Biology - for programs like Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.

Note: Students studying PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology) can apply for courses in both categories.

Minimum Aggregate Marks

  • Students must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
  • 60% marks should be in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) only.
  • If the 60% marks are less than 60%, the application will not be entertained even after passing the entrance examination.

NIOS and Distance Education

  • Students who have completed 10+2 from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) or any approved distance education system are also eligible, provided their study centre is recognized and valid.
  • However, they must fulfill all the subject and marks-related conditions.

Number of Attempts

  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts for SRMJEE 2026.
  • Students can appear for both the first and second stages of the exam, if required, to improve their scores.

What Is the Reservation Policy for SRMJEEE 2026?

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) follows a merit-based admission process for SRMJEEE 2025. The university does not follow any caste-based reservation system, such as SC, ST, OBC, or EWS quota.   • SRMIST offers merit-based admission, which means there is no reservation for categories like SC, ST, OBC, or EWS.

  • SRMIST awards merit-based scholarships to top candidates.
  • Candidates can get 100% fee waiver based on their SRMJEEE rank.
  • There is a provision of 50% and 25% fee waiver for students who score well in the exam.

State and Central Board Toppers

  • Direct Admission for Topper Students: Students who are toppers in State Board or CBSE/ICSE Class XII can get direct admission with full tuition fee waiver.
  • Proof of board topper status is required at the counselling stage for eligibility.

SRM Founder Scholarship

  • Founder Scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved exceptional achievements in both academic and extra-curricular fields.

Who is not eligible for SRMJEEE 2026?

SRMJEEE 2026 is open to many candidates, but not all meet the eligibility requirements. Students who have not passed Class 12

Candidates without Physics and Mathematics

  • Those who have not studied Physics and Mathematics as main subjects in their qualifying examination (including Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology) are not eligible for B.Tech programme through SRMJEEE.

Candidates with less than 50% marks (General category)

  • Students from the general category must have minimum 50% marks in Class 12th (PCM/PCB) to be eligible. If they have less than 50% marks, they are not allowed to apply.

Candidates with less than 45% marks (Reserved Category)

  • Although SRMJEEE does not follow caste-based reservation, some specific campuses or scholarships may provide relaxed eligibility criteria. However, for most courses, students with less than 45% aggregate marks (PCM/PCB) will not be considered.

Students from unrecognized boards

  • Candidates who have completed their 12th class from a unrecognized education board or unrecognized institution are not eligible.

Age-ineligible candidates

  • Students who do not meet the minimum age requirement (born after July 1, 2004) may be considered ineligible unless an exception applies. Always cross-check the official brochure if there is any age relaxation.

Incomplete application
