If you are preparing for JEE Main 2026 either for the first time or not, you definitely have a quarry for the expected cutoff percentile to predict passing marks. Check the details below to solve your doubt.

To set a target JEE Main score you must analyze the previous year cutoff trends since there are no "passing marks," but rather a minimum qualifying cutoff score for JEE Advanced eligibility, which the National Testing Agency (NTA) releases only after session 2 results.
A question for the JEE Main 2026 cutoff is a valid and relevant doubt for setting a target on your preparation levels. Review the past 5 years’ cutoff analysis to estimate a safe target score. Keep in mind that the cutoffs for JEE Main are of two types: the qualifying cutoff for JEE Advanced eligibility and the admission cutoff for entry into NITs, IIITs, and other colleges, released round-wise during the JoSAA counselling.
JEE Main 2026 Eligibility and Safe Score Target
- 75% Marks Rule Clarification: You do not need 75% marks in Class 12 to appear for the JEE Main exam; as per the official NTA brochure, there is no minimum percentage requirement for taking the test.
- Admission Requirement: The requirement of 75% marks (or being in the top 20 percentile of their respective board) in Class 12 is necessary only for admission to premier institutes like NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and IITs. Many other institutes offer admission with 60% or even less, along with a valid JEE Main score.
- Safe Target Score: Based on past year cutoff analysis, targeting a score of 90+ percentile (approximately 140-150 marks) in JEE Main 2026 can be considered a safe score to qualify for JEE Advanced.
