CBSE has announced special provisions for Class X & XII students involved in high-level sports or academic competitions whose Board exams clash with their events. All applications must submit their Certificates of Participation via the school to the Regional Office by December 15th.

The CBSE Board has announced special provisions for Class X and XII students participating in national/international sports or Olympiads during the 2026 board exams, which will be held in two phases (February and May). Under the revised policy, students whose events clash with the first examination phase (February) will not have a separate special exam; instead, they will be permitted to appear for the affected subjects during the second examination phase (May).

This facility is also extended to general students who are either unsatisfied with their first phase result or were unable to appear due to unavoidable circumstances. Importantly, students must apply for the main examination by the specified deadline and official approval from CBSE is still mandatory for those opting out of the first phase. The board clarified that if a sports student appears in the second phase and is placed in the compartmental category, their compartmental exam will be deferred until February/March of the subsequent year.
