The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 Exam, held on May 3 due to integrity concerns shared by law enforcement agencies, and a re-examination has been scheduled. The matter has been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive inquiry, and the NTA is completely resetting the process to ensure full transparency.

The NTA has extended the exam to 3 hours and 15 minutes. This change includes an extra 15 minutes just for administrative tasks and biometric checks at your seat, so actual writing time starts at 02:15 PM. Entry gates open at 11:00 AM and lock permanently at 1:30 PM sharp, and everyone must be in their assigned seats by 1:45 PM. The NEET exam pattern (+4/-1 marking) and language choices will stay exactly the same. However, you will get a completely new admit card on June 14, 2026, with a randomly assigned test center.

Re-NEET 2026: The Do’s
Here is a quick, breakdown of the essential steps and schedule rules you must follow before and on exam day:
- Verify Your Exam City Preference: If you need to change your preferred test city due to a change in your current location, log in to the official website (neet.nta.nic.in). You are permitted to update your Present Address and choose your 1st and 2nd choices of examination cities. If you do not need a change, your original choices will be automatically retained.
- Keep an Eye Out for City Intimation & Admit Cards: NTA issued entirely fresh NEET 2026 admit cards and city intimation slips later on the official websites (nta.ac.in and neet.nta.nic.in). Your old admit card from the May 3 exam is scrapped.
- Arrive Early for Formalities: The 3-hour and 15-minute exam window explicitly includes time for standard examination formalities. Plan to arrive at your assigned centre well ahead of the 02:00 PM start time to clear biometric and security checks without stress.
- Rely Exclusively on Official Communications: Disregard unverified updates, leaks, or schedules circulating on social media platforms. Monitor only the official NTA portals and verified helplines for true updates.
Re-NEET (UG) 2026: The Don'ts
Check the essential "Don'ts" you need to remember to keep your application valid and avoid unnecessary stress:
- Don’t attempt to edit other application fields: The current correction window is strictly locked. No corrections to your personal particulars, academic details, or categories are allowed. Only your present address and exam city choices can be modified.
- Don't pay any additional fees: The NTA has explicitly stated that your previous registration data and candidature are being carried forward. No fresh NEET registration is required, and no additional examination fee will be levied. Furthermore, the NTA is processing a refund of the original fees paid, funding the re-conduction entirely through its internal resources.
- Don't panic about changing guidelines: The fundamental rules of the exam room remain identical. All guidelines, dress codes, and prohibited item lists will be exactly the same as detailed in the original NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin available on the website.
