The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2027 is officially scheduled for January 3, 2027, and will be conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur. As one of the most prestigious management entrance examinations in India, a high score in this test provides a gateway to admission into premier business schools, including XLRI, SPJIMR Mumbai, IMT Ghaziabad, and XIM Bhubaneswar.

Registration for the XAT 2027 examination starts on July 15, 2026. XLRI has implemented a strategic "Day 1" incentive for early applicants, which guarantees the allocation of their first-choice exam city. Complete the registration by December 6 to ensure eligibility for the upcoming testing cycle.

The registration fee is set at ₹2,300, with an additional charge of ₹200 for each program opted for at XLRI. The admit card download is tentatively scheduled for December 20, 2026, leading up to the final examination day.

XAT 2027: The Exam Structure & Marking Scheme

The 3-hour computer-based test consists of 95 MCQs split into two parts:

  • Part 1 (170 min): Covers Verbal Ability (26 Qs), Decision Making (21 Qs), and Quantitative Aptitude & DI (28 Qs).
  • Part 2 (10 min): Covers General Knowledge (20 Qs).
  • Marking: Each correct answer earns +1, while incorrect answers in Part 1 carry a -0.25 penalty. Crucially, skipping more than 8 questions in Part 1 results in a -0.10 penalty per unattempted question. Note that the Analytical Essay has been removed from the exam.
