JoSAA Counselling 2026: Online Registration Link, Choice Filling & Detailed Schedule

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has officially opened the online registration and choice-filling portal for JoSAA 2026 counselling at josaa.nic.in. Engineering aspirants with valid JEE Main 2026 or JEE Advanced 2026 ranks can now log into the candidate dashboard to submit their institutional preferences.

You have until June 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM to complete your JEE Advanced counselling registration and arrange the choices. Make sure to complete your preference list early; choices can only be submitted once during the entire process and cannot be edited after the locking deadline.

To streamline the academic session, JoSAA 2026 has reduced its allocation process to five rounds from the traditional six-round layout. Following the conclusion of the fifth round, any vacant seats remaining across NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs will be handed over to the CSAB 2026 special spot rounds, which will be managed independently at csab.nic.in starting July 22, 2026.

JoSAA Counselling Application and Choice Filling Procedure

You must execute the application process to complete your JoSAA 2026 counselling:

Step 1: Go to the official portal at josaa.nic.in. Click on "New Candidate Registration". Enter your JEE Main 2026 application number, your name, mother’s name, and date of birth. Authenticate the profile by entering the OTP sent to your registered email ID and phone number, and establish a secure account password.
Step 2: Log back into the official JoSAA candidate portal using your JEE Main registration number and new password. Complete the second security OTP verification. Thoroughly read all pre-loaded personal details pulled from the NTA/IIT databases. If verified correct, click to confirm your registration.
Step 3: Access the choice filling module by submitting a final mobile authorization OTP. The dashboard will populate all valid institute and program combinations based on your exam eligibility. Use the "Add" button to pull colleges into your active choices list. Arrange them in strict descending order of priority. You are free to add as many choices as desired.
Step 4: Carefully review your preference order and manually lock your choices on the portal.

If left unlocked, the platform will execute an auto/system lock on your last saved combination, which will serve as your static preferences across all subsequent seat allocation rounds.

JoSAA 2026 Counselling: Post-Allotment Directives

If allocated a seat in any round, you are required to perform online reporting immediately. This involves downloading the allocation letter, uploading clear scans of mandatory documents (including Class 10/12 certificates, category validity certificates, and the mandatory medical fitness sheet), and completing the Seat Acceptance Fee payment of INR 30,000 (for General/OBC/EWS) or INR 15,000 (for SC/ST/PwD) via digital payment channels.
