WBJEE 2026: West Bengal Changes OBC Reservation Rules; Update Your Status by Today

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has opened an urgent online facility for candidates to declare and update their Other Backward Classes (OBC) status for the WBJEE 2026 admission process. Check out all the available classes, processes, and direct link here.

This update follows a major restructuring of the reservation framework by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal. The state government has overhauled its previous reservation percentages, introducing a newly defined list of 66 eligible classes entitled to a 7% reservation across all state government posts, services, and higher education admissions.

The edit and modification options for WBJEE are only available while the portal is live. No further requests for inclusion, declaration, or correction of OBC status will be entertained under any circumstances after the June 11 deadline.

WBJEE 2026 OBC Status: Key Dates & Login Process

The online window for declaring and modifying your OBC Class is highly time-sensitive. Candidates who wish to claim the 7% reservation benefits must log in and update their status before the portal closes.

How to Update Your Status WBJEE 2026 Status?

To access the declaration portal, you need to log in using their official credentials:

• Application Number
• Roll Number
• Date of Birth

Choose your specific sub-caste or community from the dropdown list of 66 eligible classes and submit the form to finalize your status update before the portal closes.

Eligibility Requirements: The Paternal Certificate & NCL Warning

The Backward Classes Welfare Department has issued vital clarification regarding eligibility. Merely possessing a paternal OBC certificate does not automatically qualify a candidate for reservation benefits.

To successfully claim the reservation, WBJEE candidates must fulfill the following mandatory conditions:

• Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Requirement: Reservation benefits are strictly restricted to candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer.
• Valid OBC-NCL Certificate: Candidates must possess a valid, original OBC-NCL certificate issued by a competent authority in accordance with current state government guidelines.
• The Penalty for Non-Compliance: If a candidate fails to produce a valid original OBC-NCL certificate during document verification, counseling, or admission, their reservation claim will be instantly cancelled. The candidate will automatically be treated under the Unreserved (General) Category.

WBJEE 2026 Official List of 66 Eligible OBC Classes

As notified by the state government via Gazette Notifications, the following 66 classes are recognized to avail of the revised reservation benefits:

Eligible Muslim Sub-Castes & Regional Groups

• Goala, Gope (including Pallav Gope, Ballav Gope, Yadav Gope, Gope, Ahir, and Yadav)
• Hawari, Dhobi (excluding those already included in the Scheduled Castes list)
• Hele/Halia/Chasi-Kaibartta, Das Kaibartta
• Khen (Non-Bania category only)
• Rai (including Chamling)
• Rayeen (Kunjra)
• Nashya-Sekh
• Pahadia Muslim
• Hajjam (Muslim)
• Chowduli (Muslim)

All WBJEE 2026 aspirants belonging to these communities are strongly advised to complete their digital declarations immediately and ensure their physical OBC-NCL documentation is up to date ahead of the counseling and verification phase.

UP NEET PG 2025 counselling will be conducted in four rounds, allocating 85% state quota seats based on choices, NEET scores, and reservations. The remaining 15% All India Quota seats will be managed by MCC.

UP NEET PG 2025 counselling dates have been officially released on the state’s exam portal, upneet.gov.in. You can begin round 1 registration process from November 06, 2025. To participate in the seat allocation, you must register online and submit your preferred choices of colleges and courses. The deadline for application submission is October 10, 2025. If you have qualified NEET PG 2025 exam and meet the minimum cutoff criteria, you are eligible to take part in Uttar Pradesh NEET PG counselling process.
