The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur marked a significant milestone with its 71st IIT KGP Convocation 2025 ceremony, where 3,731 students received their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The prestigious event recognized academic excellence, with top-performing graduates being awarded the Presiden's Gold Medal, the Prime Minister's Gold Medal, and several other distinguished awards.

This year's convocation highlighted the institute's commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation, as students from diverse disciplines were honored for their outstanding achievements. The ceremony not only celebrated academic success but also reinforced IIT Kharagpur legacy as a premier institution shaping future leaders in technology and research.

The IIT KGP 71st convocation 2025 ceremony was graced by eminent personalities, with Dr. S. Somanath, former Chairman of ISRO, presiding as the chief guest. Joining him were notable industry leaders, including Mr. Anand Deshpande, Founder and Chairperson of Persistent Systems, and Dr. Anuradha Acharya, CEO of Mapmygenome. Their presence added prestige to the event, inspiring graduates with insights from their distinguished careers in space technology, IT innovation, and biotechnology.

IIT KGP Convocation 2025

IIT KGP 71st convocation 2025 celebrated academic excellence by awarding 3,731 degrees spanning diverse disciplines, showcasing its multidisciplinary educational approach. The graduating cohort included 277 PhD scholars, 956 M.Tech graduates, and 614 B.Tech (Hons) students, alongside specialized degrees such as Master of City Planning (MCP), Executive MBA, LLM, and M.Arch program.

Notably, the institute awarded 786 dual degrees, highlighting its emphasis on interdisciplinary learning. Programs like the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA), Master in Medical Science and Technology (MMST), and Five-Year M.Sc. demonstrated IIT KGP's focus on emerging fields and industry-aligned education.

In addition to academic honors, 25 Distinguished Alumnus Awards were bestowed upon notable graduates for their pioneering contributions to science, technology, research, and societal development. The ceremony underscored IIT Kharagpur's legacy of nurturing innovators, leaders, and changemakers who drive progress across global platforms.

The convocation not only celebrated academic excellence but also bridged academia and industry, offering students valuable perspectives on future opportunities in science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
