IITJEE mains: About Exam

IIT JEE Mains is a premier Engineering test in India. Lakhs of students across the nation apply for this exam each year. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exam for admission to Architecture, B.Arch/ B.Plan and Engineering, B.E./ B.Tech courses. After acquiring the scores students can get admission to IITs, State Engineering Colleges, SFIs and NITs.

Highlights -

Interested students can apply for this test through the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA has made some changes to this test in 2021 due to the pandemic situation. The changes will take actions in the JEE Main 2024. 

 

About the Exam -

 

National Testing Agency (NTA) is a self - sustained and autonomous exam organization that conducts entrance test for admission to popular colleges. The JEE Mains is conducted by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Government of India since 2019. The exam has two papers, Paper 1 is for Engineering and Paper 2 is for Architecture.

Age : No Bar

Frequency : Twice a Year 

Month : January and April

Mode of Application : Online

Mode of Exam : Online / Computer Based Test

Language : Bengali, Kannada, Assamese, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu with Hindi English and Gujarati.

Number of Sections : 3 

 

  • Paper 1 for B.E./ B.Tech
  • Paper 2A for B.Arch and
  • Paper 2B for B.Planning

 

Total Number of Questions : 279 Questions

 

  • Paper 1 for B.E./ B.Tech - 90 Questions
  • Paper 2A for B.Arch - 82 Questions
  • Paper 2B for B.Planning - 105 Questions

 

Total Marks = 1100

 

  • Paper 1 for B.E./ B.Tech - 300
  • Paper 2A for B.Arch and - 400
  • Paper 2B for B.Planning - 400

 

Exam Timings = 3 hours. (4 hours for PwD)

Types of Questions = Multiple Choice Questions

 

Marking Process -

 

  • 4 marks are awarded for each correct answer. 
  • 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. 

 

Exam 2024 (Tentative) - 

 

NTA will conduct the session 2 test from April 4 to 15, 2024. The city intimation slip will be activated soon on the official website. The rerelease date is the 3rd week of March, 2024. The admit card for session 2 is on April 1, 2024, and it will be available on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in

Application Fee -

  • SC/ ST / PwD /Transgender category students for centers in India - INR 500.
  •  For exam venues outside India –INR 2,500.
