Karnataka PGCET Eligibility for MCA Program

You can apply for the MCA program in full-time mode only. Here are the eligibility criteria to apply for MCA program through PGCET:

Karnataka PGCET Eligibility for M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch Program

Admission to the M.E./MTech/M.Arch is offered in full-time and part-time modes. The eligibility criteria for M.E./MTech/M.Arch programs are discussed below:

Seat Reservation Criteria for Karnataka PGCET 2026

If you are a student from Karnataka, you should note that under the PGCET eligibility criteria, reservations are available for those belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Other Backwards Classes (OBC). To claim this benefit, you must provide a valid Caste Certificate or Caste-Income Certificate issued by the jurisdictional Tahsildar.

As per the government order, the annual income limit for claiming reservation benefits has been raised from INR 6.00 lakhs to INR 8.00 lakhs. If your gross annual family income is below INR 8.00 lakhs, then you are eligible to claim a reservation under categories 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B. However, if you belong to SC, ST, or Category-I, then you must provide an income certificate issued by the jurisdictional Tahsildar in the prescribed format.

As per the Karnataka Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission in the Kalyana Karnataka Region (Article 371 J), you must comply with the reservation criteria outlined in the PGCET eligibility rules. The specific details are provided below:

  • For admission purposes, the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region, comprising the districts of Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Bidar, Gulbarga, and Bellary, will be treated as the local area.
  • You should note that 70% of the seats in each course offered by regional institutions or universities located in the designated local area are reserved for local candidates.
  • In statewide universities and educational institutions, 8% of the seats in each course will be reserved for candidates from the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
