Difference Between XAT and CAT

As you can note that the CAT exam has a fixed time limit for each section with a long and challenging Reading Comprehension (RC) section. XAT also has sectional timing. However, you can manage your time more freely between English, Quantitative Ability (QA), and Decision Making (DM), based on your preparation.

In contrast, the CAT exam does not include sections like Essay Writing, Decision Making (DM), or General Knowledge (GK), which require separate preparation. Interestingly, both exams are conducted just a month apart.
