To gain admission through CUET 2025, achieving a strong score is essential for securing your desired course and university. Prior to evaluating what qualifies as a good CUET UG score, it's essential to understand the difference between marks and percentiles. Marks reflect the exact scores a candidate earns in each subject, while percentiles indicate how their performance compares to others who appeared for the exam.

The NTA has already announced the CUET UG 2025 result on the official website at cuet.nta.nic.in. You can now access your scorecard, which includes all the necessary information. Admission to CUET participating institutions is determined by your percentile, NTA score, and the cutoff marks set by each university.

Factors Affecting What's Considered a Good CUET Score 2025

Candidates aiming for top central universities or other colleges through CUET should understand that their CUET score is influenced by various factors. Preparation is essential, and how well they grasp the subjects and manage their time during the exam all matter. The difficulty level of the paper, accuracy in answering questions, and even stress levels can affect their final score. Being aware of these factors can help you plan more effectively and boost your chances of scoring well in CUET 2025.

  • Difficulty Level of the Exam: Exam difficulty level impacts CUET scores; tough papers may lower cutoffs
  • Target University and Program: Top universities demand high CUET scores for competitive courses
  • Course Popularity: Popular courses have higher cutoffs due to more applicants
  • Competition: The number of applicants and their performance affect the cutoff marks
  • Subject Combination: Subject choice influences scoring; some subjects have higher competition
  • Category-Wise Reservation Criteria: Cutoffs vary by category (unreserved/reserved) as per university policies.

How to Calculate CUET UG Score?

In the CUET UG 2025 exam, both types of scores are used: raw scores and percentile scores. The raw score is the actual marks a student obtains based on their correct and incorrect answers. The percentile score shows how well a student performed compared to others. It shows how many candidates performed worse than the student in question. To make fair comparisons, the raw score is converted into a percentile score through a normalization process. This is important because students take the exam on different days, in different shifts, and at different centers, so the percentile helps adjust for any variations in difficulty. The CUET UG exam includes three sections, each with a time limit of 60 minutes. The number of questions and maximum marks for each section are given in a table for reference. This helps students understand the exam structure and make fair comparisons.

SectionNumber of questionsMaximum Marks
Section I (Language)50250
Section II (Domain Subject)50250
Section III (General Test)50250

CUET UG 2025 Marking Scheme

Here is the table below to know the evaluation system of the CUET UG exam paper:

Case ScenarioMarks Awarded/Deducted
Correct / most appropriate response(+) 5 marks
Incorrect response(-) 1 mark
Unanswered / marked for review0 mark
More than one option is found to be correct(+) 5 marks (if any of the correct options are in the market)
All options are correct(+) 5 marks for the questions attempted
No options is correct / a question is dropped(+) 5 marks for the dropped question is attempted

How to convert the RAW Score into a Percentile?

CUET percentiles are computed individually for each exam session to ensure fair performance comparisons across different test days:

  • Find the total number of candidates (N) who took the exam.
  • Take all candidates from a specific shift and rank them from highest to lowest based on their CUET raw scores.
  • For a particular candidate with a raw score (T), count how many candidates (M) scored equal to or below T.
  • Use this formula to calculate the percentile score (P): P=M*100/N
