RRB ALP and Technician exam selection process includes CBT 1, CBT 2, Aptitude Test (for ALP only), document verification, and medical examination. Candidates must qualify the above-mentioned steps respectively to secure a job.

Kolkata: The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are expected to announce the results of the first stage Computer Based Test (CBT-1) for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technician positions soon.
Once the RRB announces the CBT-1 results, candidates will be able to check their scores and qualifying status. Those who clear the cut-off marks will be shortlisted for the second stage of the examination, the CBT-2.
Key Stages of the RRB ALP and Technician Selection Process
Have a look at the complete process for the RRB ALP and Technician posts selection:
- CBT-1: This is the first stage, a screening test to shortlist candidates for further stages. It assesses basic aptitude and general knowledge.
- CBT-2: The second stage is a more comprehensive computer-based test, divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A focuses on mathematics, general intelligence and reasoning, and basic science and engineering. Part B is a qualifying test in trade-related subjects.
- Aptitude Test (for ALP only): Candidates who clear CBT-2 and have opted for the ALP position will have to undergo a computer-based Aptitude Test (Psycho-Technical Test). This test evaluates their vision, depth perception, and other psychomotor skills crucial for loco pilots.
- Document Verification: Candidates who clear all the preceding stages will be called for document verification. They must produce original documents to verify their eligibility and claims made in the application.
- Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the required medical standards for railway jobs.
What to Do After Qualifying CBT-1?
Candidates who qualify for CBT-2 should immediately start preparing for the next stage. Focus on the syllabus for Part A and Part B of CBT-2 and practice previous year's question papers to understand the exam pattern and difficulty level. For ALP aspirants, preparation for the Aptitude Test is also crucial.
