GATE 2026 Exam Day Tips for Students:-

  • Arrive 90 mins early; log in and read instructions early.
  • Start with Easy/Confident questions; target 1-mark questions first to build momentum.
  • Make your mindset to attempt questions for 45–60 marks for top NITs/IITs, 75+ marks for top PSUs (like ONGC/IOCL).
  • Avoid blind guessing due to negative marking (-1/3 or -2/3). NAT/MSQ have no negative marks, take advantage of it.
  • Use Virtual Calculator for complex math only; avoid it for simple arithmetic to save time.
  • Write your Name and Registration Number immediately on the rough sheet; use space wisely for complex derivations.
  • Keep 20–30 minutes at the end to review "Marked for Review" questions.
  • Click Submit to every answer to save; follow invigilator instructions for rough sheet return.
